"Winter Solstice" - Yarn Advent Calendar 2024 - Weekly

The 2024 Yarn Advent Calendar is now available for pre-order, read on for details and inspiration!

The Weekly Calendar will include 5 numbered packets, each one containing a half (50g) or full (100g) skein of lovingly hand-dyed yarn.

A new knitting pattern and extra little gifts will be included!

The idea is to open a packet on each Sunday of December (1st - 8th - 15th - 22th) and the last one on Christmas day.

For the Weekly Advent all colourways will be some gentle variagated ones (see example pictures) in two main colors that will merge and fade one in the next forming a big fade.

The inspiration

This year's theme is: Winter Solstice ❄️

It is a gentle invite to slowing down in a busy time, to welcome the darkest time of year, to reflect on ourselves, and to make plans for the year ahead with a calm mind.

After the colorful previous editions, it is time for a soft, moody and earthy collection to celebrate the shortest day of the year, Winter Solstice, and the coldest and darkest season it brings, which is vital to bring the light and life back in Spring 🌱

The color palette

This year palette is based on two main colors, cool Teal-Blues, the color of snow, ice, shades and dark sky, and a warm Cinnamon Browns, the colors of subtle lights of the Polar Night, when the sun never rise and just lightly color the sky, of the reflections and shades this gentle light creates, of dead trees which didn't survive the ice cold.

The Weekly Calendar is based on my gradient sets, but while the daily advent will include all semisolids/tonals, the Weekly Advent will be all about gently variegated colorways dyed in different nuances of the same hues, they'll create subtle colors that will gently move one into the next, forming a beautiful fade.

While the palette stays the same, in this set it will be less dark and moody, still gentle and beautiful.

A new knitting pattern

A new special, and easy, knitting pattern, designed by me for this beautiful set, will be included. It will be easy enough to knit it week by week while opening the packets, even in such a busy time of year. This time it will be a scarf/stole.

You can see the inspirations and colors and patterns from previous years in the collage photos below, though this time we're exploring a very different color theme, which I can't wait to bring you to celebrate together, even from a distance.

The technical stuff

A copy of the new 2024 Advent knitting pattern will be included in the form of a coupon code, or either it will be sent via e-mail on December 1st.

Note: As the yarns will be individually wrapped for a little surprise every day, the final pattern images will also be kept secret until Christmas. 🤫
