IMPORTANT TARIFF NEWS ABOUT SHIPPING TO USA
Hello my yarn enthusiast friend.
My tiny, one person yarn dyeing biz, is based in Italy 🇮🇹
From August 29th 2025, due to new US regulations, all goods sent to US are subject to tariff rates.
Most European Postal Services, included Poste Italiane, temporarily suspended shipping of goods to the US, to update their system to the new shipping requirements. As of today, there's no news yet, so Standard Shipment is temporarily suspended.
I'm still able to ship to US via UPS Courier, which is slightly more expensive than standard mail, but very quick. But shipments sent to US via UPS will be processed by their custom offices, which will require the payment of Tariffs and any extra fee due upfront delivery.
And the payment of Tariffs, and any extra fee, is the responsibility of the buyer, who will have to proceed with the payment. Please understand this is not my own choice, but that is how tariff works. Tariff are applied to the import of goods, and the buyer is the one who imports.
Tariff should be a 10-15% of the order value. But for my own personal experience of buying from outside EU, there might be extra processing fees applied from the carrier. As of today I'm not able to determine or calculate those fees.
I'm not going to suspend shipping to US, and I'm hoping many of you US knitters will continue buying my yarns, because this will hit me and my small business as much as you, my knitting friends, but you have to be aware of the current situation, and the new rules.
I'm quite concerned of how this might impact my very small business. US sales has always been a building block for me, since the beginning, well a decade ago. But I'll stay positive and hope the situation will somehow evolve for good.
It’s a time of change, and this is impacting us all.
