Winter Solstice Fade (2024 Advent) - 5 skeins set - dyed-to-order
Winter Solstice Fade (2024 Advent) - 5 skeins set - dyed-to-order
This is a dyed-to-order listing, which means the yarn will be dyed after an order is placed. Estimated production time is 4-6 weeks, so orders that includes this set will ship in said time. (It may be earlier than this, if I happen to have a set ready on hand.)
The Winter Solstice Fade was originally created for my 2024 yarn Advent calendar. It includes 5 half (50g) or full (100g) skeins of lovingly hand-dyed yarn, and a code to download your copy of Sunset River, the knitting pattern I designed for this collection.

The inspiration
Winter Solstice ❄️ is a gentle invite to slowing down to welcome the darkest time of year, to reflect on ourselves, and to make plans for the year ahead with a calm mind.
It is a soft, moody and earthy collection to celebrate the shortest day of the year, Winter Solstice, and the coldest and darkest season it brings, which is vital to bring the light and life back in Spring 🌱
The color palette
The palette is based on two main colors, cool Teal-Blues, the color of snow, ice, shades and dark sky, and warm Cinnamon Browns, the colors of subtle lights of the Polar Night, when the sun never rise and just lightly color the sky, of the reflections and shades this gentle light creates, of dead trees which didn't survive the ice cold.
Winter Solstice Fade is based on my gradient sets, but instead of semisolids/tonals, it includes gentle variegated colorways, dyed in different nuances of the same hues, to create subtle colors shifts and gentle transitions, and forming a beautiful fade.
This set is less dark and moody, still gentle and beautiful.
The knitting pattern
Sunset River is an asymmetrical scarf/wrap designed to work with a 5 skeins gradient/fade set, in either Fingering/DK yarn, and in multiple sizes for different yarn amounts. It is easy to adjust and will also work with mini skeins and scrap yarns.
The scarf/wrap is knitted flat in garter stitch, and shaped with increases, decreases, and slipped stitches. Each section forms an irregular parallelogram, with increases and decreases that shift directions to create interest, framed by columns of slipped stitches. A knitted on icord border paired with icord cast on and bind off will make for the perfect finishing.
Shown in Fingering Scarf size and worked with the 50gr half skeins in Merino Sock yarn. See the pattern on Ravelry for more details. A code to download the pattern will be included with the yarn set.
