🕯️ The Italian Advent Tradition

In Italy, the Advent tradition calls for lighting four candles—one on each December Sunday leading up to Christmas—to accompany us during the cozy, warm wait.
Inspired by this ritual, The Weekly Fade is designed for those who prefer a slower, more intentional experience with larger skeins. Instead of opening a package every day, you will open one half or full skein on each week of Advent, plus a final one on Christmas Day.

🌅 The Inspiration

This year, on this journey that takes us into Winter, I have decided to take you to a faraway place, warm and welcoming.

Imagine a warm, end of summer evening, a beautiful sunset of gold, magenta, and purple in the sky. It is a sky that perfectly reflects the colors of an inviting lounge, a place that welcomes you in its sofas and cushions covered in silks, velvets, and brocades, where mosaic lamps made of colored glass cast reflections of light onto the walls. A warm space that smells of spices, incense, and steaming tea.

These five special skeins will translate this atmosphere into a magnificent, continuous full fade - a mixture of light, medium tones to rich, medium-dark shades: from magenta to gold, through the rich tones of tobacco and amber, all the way to the depths of plum.

I hope these colors will bring light, color, and warmth into the coldest and darkest time of the year.

Your Advent Calendar is designed to be a luxurious weekly treat, offering a curated collection of hand-dyed yarn and exclusive patterns to celebrate the season.

A Note on the Palette Nuances:

Although both calendars share the same color journey, the Daily Gradient edition captures the softer, illuminated nuances of the palette (from delicate light tones to medium-dark shades), whereas the Weekly Fade edition leans into the mystery—embracing the rich, deep, and darker end of the palette.

📐 Included Patterns & How to Adapt Them

With your Weekly Fade calendar, you will receive two exclusive digital patterns (one for Crochet and one for Knitting).

(Please note: Both patterns are originally designed for Fingering weight yarn and formatted around daily mini-skeins. However, they are wonderfully versatile and can be easily adapted to these 5 full-sized weekly skeins to create a striking, geometric effect!)

Here is how you can bring them to life with your 5 Weekly Fade skeins:

The Crochet Option (Granny Squares): Designed around modern, concentric Granny Squares. While daily mini-skeins create multi-colored rings within each square, with the Weekly Fade you can dedicate whole squares to each of the 5 main shades. This creates 5 distinct, rich variations of squares that you can arrange into a bold, color-blocked blanket, scarf, or stole!

The Knitting Option (Modular Shawl): A modular shawl/stole constructed in geometric sections. Worked with your 5 Weekly Fade skeins, each section takes on one of the main gradient colors, transforming the design into an elegant geometric composition where the palette shifts gracefully from one full section to the next.

If you select the DK yarn base or prefer a different project altogether, you are of course completely free to use your 5 generous skeins for any of your favorite full-sized fade patterns!

Important Advent Shipping & Tax Information

This year, I am adopting a new shipping approach to keep shipping rates and extra fees as low as possible for you, avoiding the high surcharges of private couriers.

For orders placed between July and mid September, shipments will follow this staggered timeline:

⚠️ Orders from October onwards: Please note that shipping rates and availability for countries outside the EU may be re-evaluated and updated based on ongoing postal performance.

International Shipping, Taxes & Duties

• 🇺🇸 USA Customers (No Surprise Fees!): Great news! Import duties and taxes for the United States will now be calculated and added directly at checkout. I will pre-pay them at the time of shipping, meaning the price you pay here is truly final—no unexpected carrier fees or customs delays upon delivery!
  
• 🇬🇧 UK Customers (Etsy Option): You can purchase your calendar through my Etsy shop to have your local taxes handled automatically. Please note that Etsy collects VAT upfront only on orders up to £135. For orders above this threshold, taxes and standard postal import fees will be collected by your local postal service upon delivery.
  
• 🌍 Other Countries Outside the EU (Etsy Option): For countries like Australia, New Zealand, Norway, and others where specific import tax regulations apply, you can complete your purchase through my Etsy Shop to have eligible local taxes collected automatically at checkout. For a detailed breakdown of how Etsy handles physical VAT and custom fees per country, you can check the official Etsy Tax Guide here.
  
• 🌍 Other Countries Outside the EU: For all other non-EU destinations not managed by Etsy, I unfortunately cannot collect tariffs in advance. You may be charged import duties, taxes, or local carrier fees prior to delivery according to your country's regulations.
